Click here to view/print in MS Word
This issue was addressed by Jacque Hirsch, Ollie Burton, and Jay Martin and below is a text and outline version of the procedures that need to be followed from this time forward.
All Faculty websites will be placed on the GCC server and will be required to use the Germanna template which will be placed in your folder after the folder is created.
All student websites or websites that students will be working on for faculty will be placed on the gcstudentweb server and the Germanna template will be placed in the folder after the folder is created. The website may be transferred to the GCC server at a later date and after approval by PIO and Jay Martin.
If the website is created for a class and there is no intention of it going on the GCC server then you do not need a template and can design it however you want it with no specifications except those given by your instructor.
- Faculty
- You must contact Jay Martin (mailto:jmartin@germanna.edu) to have a folder(s) created for you on the GCC server.
- NOTE: if you are having a student create or help you with your website then a folder will be created on the gcstudentweb server. If it’s a site that you want put on the GCC server later then the website will have to be approved first before it is transferred.
- You MUST use the Germanna template which will be put into your folder after the folder is created.
- Students
- If you are creating a website for a class project or an instructor then you must have your instructor contact either Jay Martin or Ollie Burton (mailto:jmartin@germanna.edu) to have web- space created for you on the gcstudentweb server.
- If you are helping to create a website for an instructor here at Germanna then you must use the Germanna template which will be placed in your folder after it is created.
- If the website will be created for a class project and there is no intention of it going on the main Germanna web server then you do not need to use the Germanna template and can design it however you want it with no specifications except those given by your instructor.
Jay Martin at jmartin@germanna.edu needs to be given the following information by the student, faculty or instructor in order for the space to be given on the server: Student, faculty or staff name, what you want your space (folder) on the server to be called (ex. Web’r’us, double-trouble, Sutton, etc). Also, Jay will need to know what password you would like your account to be set up with.
NOTE: Any websites being created for instructors by students or having students help with, will be put on the gcstudentweb server and be transferred to the GCC server if requested and after being approved – no exceptions.
Any further questions about these procedures, please contact the Webmaster at (540) 834-1011.
