TECH-PREP

Germanna Community College (GCC) has entered into Articulation Agreements with most school divisions that are in the Germanna service area. These agreements, developed under the auspices of the Germanna Tech Prep Consortium, allow students who have completed an approved Tech Prep curriculum* in high school to enroll at GCC and receive college credit for specified course completed in high school. A summary of the high school courses and the college courses for which credit will be granted is printed below. All agreements require the student to have earned a grade of "C" or better, enroll at GCC within 24 months of graduation, and complete one or more courses at GCC.

Procedures for Gaining Articulated Credit

Students should enroll at GCC and complete one or more courses, Students should advise their counselor that they intend to request articulated credit and ensure that a copy of their high school transcript, which shows Virginia State Course Codes, is on file in the Registrar's Office. Upon completion of one or more courses, students should complete the "Request for Evaluation of Transfer Credit Form." In the space for "College Transcripts," the student should enter "High School Program," or the name of his/her high school, i.e., "Stafford High School." He/she should then submit the form to the Registrar.

The Registrar will review the transcript. If the student has met the criteria for articulated credit, the appropriate courses and credits will be entered upon the transcript as transferred credit. A letter will be mailed to the student informing him/her of the action taken.

Articulated courses can only be applied to GCC programs. Dual enrollment credit can transfer to other post secondary institutions. Articulated credit may transfer to other institutions if part of a completed program of study; but some institutions may not accept the credits.
