TECH-PREP

MISSION STATEMENT

The Germanna Tech Prep Consortium is a partnership dedicated to developing educational programs leading to a career, and to promote and enhance career education.

Tech Prep is a dynamic career education reform movement with two main goals.

Tech Prep Programs link community colleges, local schools and employers to provide technical preparation in a career field.  Tech Prep Instruction stresses practical teaching tailored to individual learning styles and the integration of academic and technical skills.

The Germanna Tech Prep Consortium is an association comprised of the College and the eight public school divisions within the region. It works to implement the Tech Prep goals in this area. Its primary objective is development of instructional programs that lead to an education in a career field, and conform to National Tech Prep standards.

These standards are:

  • Joint development of Career Pathways by the participating schools that lead to industry certification or a degree.
  • Maintenance of academic and technical standards.
  • Stress on work-based learning.
  • Provide technical education in a career field.
  • Be carried out under college /district agreements.
  • Lead to appropriate employment and/or further education.
  • Offer opportunities for earning college credit while in high school.

Program offerings will vary. Consult your local guidance office or the Tech Prep Offices at

  • Publishing a quarterly newsletter.
