How to find journal and newspaper articles using Germanna’s databases
- Go to the library home page at www.germanna.edu/library.
- Choose Journals from the menu on the left .
- Choose a database from the list. If you are unsure of the type of information contained in each database, click on Descriptions for a brief explanation.
- If you are not using a computer on campus, you will be prompted for a log on ID and password. Use your MyGCC ID and password for access.
- Be sure to read the instructions and search tips for the particular database you choose. Look at the options available, such as limiting your search to articles with full text or to a particular date range or journal title and use these options to refine your search.
- If you know you need a particular journal and want to find if it is available in full text, go to the Journals page. At the top left you will see the words “Click here to find full text periodicals online.” Use this function to determine if a journal is available and where to go to find it.
- You may print full text articles, abstracts, and citations from computers in the library at no charge.
- If the full text of articles you need is not available in one of the databases, you may request an interlibrary loan of articles needed for class-related research. See a library staff member for assistance or complete and submit an interlibrary loan form either in person or electronically here. More information about interlibrary loan is found here.
