The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) may be filed starting in January for the academic year that starts in the following fall. The FAFSA must be filed each year. Students and parents should complete federal tax returns before completing the FAFSA. Germanna's school code (008660) must be entered on the FAFSA in order for Germanna Community College to receive the FAFSA results. The Deadline for Filing the FAFSA for the 2008-2009 Academic Year is June 30, 2009 The priority application date for Germanna Community College is April 1. Germanna Community College must receive the results of your FAFSA by April 1 and all other requested documents must be correct and turned in to the Financial Aid Office by April 1 in order to meet the priority application date. Your financial aid application must be complete at least 2 weeks before the date that tuition is due. Complete means that Germanna must have received the results of your FAFSA, you must be admitted to the college and placed in an eligible program, and all documentation must be received. Important: If your FAFSA results are received by April 1 and all other documents requested by the Financial Aid Office have been received by April 1 you have met the priority date and will be evaluated for state and federal aid until all funds have been awarded. Meeting the April 1 date does not guarantee that the student will receive an award. In most years no grant funds (other than Pell Grant) are available to students who complete the FAFSA and/or turn in all requested documents after April 1. All applications received after the priority filing date will be awarded additional State/Local grant funds as they are made available to the College. |
